A crise diplomática entre Brasil e Estados Unidos já começa a cobrar seu preço. Pelo menos 1.500 toneladas de pescados brasileiros — entre peixes e frutos do mar — deixaram de ser exportadas aos EUA desde o anúncio do tarifaço de 50% imposto por Donald Trump, segundo a Abipesca (Associação Brasileira das Indústrias de Pescados).
Contêineres seguem parados em portos da Bahia, Ceará e Pernambuco, à espera de uma definição. O motivo da suspensão? O receio do setor quanto ao impacto financeiro da medida. Como os produtos levam até três semanas para chegar ao território norte-americano, há incerteza sobre quais valores serão cobrados na chegada e como isso afetará os contratos em andamento.
“A exportação foi paralisada porque os compradores nos EUA não querem correr o risco de pagar um valor imprevisível pelo pescado”, explicou Jairo Gund, diretor-executivo da Abipesca.
O impasse evidencia os efeitos colaterais imediatos do conflito comercial, que já ameaça a balança comercial de setores estratégicos. A cobrança da nova tarifa está programada para entrar em vigor no dia 1º de agosto — e o tempo está contra os exportadores brasileiros.
